an enjoyable saturday

This past Saturday, Brett and I decided to head up to Portland for the afternoon. Things have been sort of a whirlwind since the holidays, so it was nice to get some time with one another...just the two of us...with no distractions.

and last but not least, we got some of this to finish the day off right.

It was such an enjoyable day and it got me to thinking about how different life is going to be in just 2 short months. I envisioned us doing all these same things, but with a baby in tow. And while I'm sure you other mothers can agree with the fact that getting out and about with a baby is definitely a little more complicated, I can't help but look forward to our future outings as a family.

thirty, flirty and thriving

name that movie....anyone???....yep, 13 going on 30.

and while i do love that movie, this post has nothing to do with it. it only involves the thirty part. and okay, probably the thriving part too, as i pray this little boy is thriving inside of me.

but seriously, 30 weeks? that means i only have 10 more to go! woooaaahhhhh. it's really starting to sink in now.

i'm going to be a MOM.

brett's going to be a DAD.

we're going to have a BABY.

he is definitely growing...i am as well. i love feeling him move around, but it's starting to be a little more uncomfortable for me now. as much as i appreciate his little punches and kicks, my ribs and hips are singing a different tune. actually they probably are groaning a different tune rather than singing. but it's all worth it. i can't complain.

our lives will be FOREVER CHANGED.

we'll be EXHAUSTED & EMOTIONAL,

but ELATED.

it will be WONDERFUL.

and we CAN'T WAIT.

Every week, I get a "My Pregnancy This Week" email, which gives me all the details on our little guy's development, as well as all the oh so fun details on how my pregnant body is changing. And every week, this email tells me, "Your baby is about ____ inches long and weighs about ____ pounds. This makes your baby about the size of a _____ (insert appropriate fruit, vegetable, or whatever else they can come up with to give me a better idea of how big my baby really is)." Well, this week told me that he is:

15 1/2 inches + 3 pounds = cabbage.

Seems about right.

for those of you wondering (which, i don't know why you would be since my drawing skills are fantastic!) - the additions are rapidly moving arms and legs. Yep, that is more like it. :)

My list of "projects to complete before baby comes" is quite lengthy...and I just keep adding to it. But, with the help of my amazing mom, I have been able to check a couple things off my list:

• Set up crib - check
• Have mom make crib bedding - check

My mom still has all the crib bedding, but once she sends it, I'll set it all up and take a picture of the crib in all it's glory. But for now, here's a picture of the bumper...

28 weeks down, by the way! I can't believe I'm almost at 30 weeks. Baby's growing and time is flying, that's for sure!

...and now on to 2010

We're back... and although it's good to be home, I miss my family already. We had a great time celebrating the holidays and were blessed to spend time some time in Medford with Brett's parents, as well as in Fallon with my WHOLE family.

I'm a little upset I didn't manage to get a family pic, but I was able to capture all the lovely couples, including a new one some of you may be unaware of and an update on an existing one :)

We definitely enjoyed our time together and are looking forward to it happening again soon!

And now, on to the new year! I can't believe how quickly this year went by, but I'm definitely glad it's over. 2009 will be a year I remember for the rest of my life, I'm sure of it. With Sara's cancer diagnosis and the news of our little one on the way, we were hit with some of the worst news and best news within one month's time. Needless to say, it has been quite the emotional rollercoaster for this highly hormonal preggo woman. Through it all, I've been learning A LOT about who I am as a person and who I should be as a woman of God. It's not always easy, but I'm learning how to be thankful for all the blessings, whether big or small, despite the trials and hardships that might come with them.

So....even though the last 7 months have quite possibly been the most difficult 7 months of our lives, we are hopeful and excited about what God has in store for our growing family in this new year (twenty ten or two thousand and ten...whichever you prefer).
